Organizational Change

Sample Past Project: Organizational Change Management (OCM) Global Professional Services Company

  • Client's Challenge

A leading global professional services firm embarked on an ambitious multi-year transformation initiative targeting nine critical back-office functions within a span of four years. Seeking to revolutionize service delivery methods, responsible entities, and geographic locations, the company conducted a comprehensive analysis benchmarked against similarly-sized, growth-oriented organizations. This evaluation identified transformation opportunities poised to enhance customer experiences and establish a more agile, scalable platform, projecting nearly US$ 1 Billion in cost savings over the transformation period. With an impact anticipated on approximately 14,000 back-office employees across the United States and India, the scale of the transformation necessitated a holistic and scalable change management approach.

  • Our Contribution

During the initial phases of the transformation, our team seamlessly integrated into each of the 20+ initiatives, diligently gaining insights into crucial elements shaping the overall change strategy. This involved understanding timelines, dependencies, identifying roadblocks, and engaging with key stakeholders. Collaborating closely with the Project Management Office (PMO) team, we crafted an integrated roadmap to enhance visibility into parallel activities and critical milestones across the initiatives. Leveraging these milestones as a foundation, we formulated a unified change and communication strategy, developing an overarching narrative and key messages at both the portfolio and initiative levels.

Further, utilizing each initiative's timeline as a guide, we conducted initiative-specific change and readiness activities. These included capturing change impacts, executing stakeholder assessments, constructing comprehensive communication plans with multi-channel messaging, and designing and delivering training plans, curriculums, and courses. A pivotal aspect of our successful approach was managing the challenge of sequencing the rollout of diverse changes across all initiatives, strategically preventing change fatigue within the system.

DotConnect's OCM Approach

Companies and organizations experience several types of changes, sometimes simultaneously, and the outcomes are not always predictable.

Adoption Challenges

Regardless of the type of change, organizations typically experience a combination of challenges that prevent broad adoption of the change, and ultimately get in the way of the organization's ability navigating and sustain the change successfully.

Overcoming Adoption Challenges

Many organizations have a ‘reductive’ view of Change Management as being merely communications and training. As such, this discipline often is reduced to a plus one activity for existing resources who may already be at capacity or may not have the skillset to do this work in its entirety. Overcoming adoption challenges demands intentional change 'activities', executed at all levels of the organization.
